Biography
Gabriel Campoy (Mexicali, Mexico) is a New York based painter whose practice explores poetic ideas regarding his personal life and universal human experience topics. In 2011, he was selected through a statewide drawing and painting competition in Georgia to attend the painting program at Valdosta State University. Campoy received his BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2017. He has worked for accomplished artist Zoe Buckman. His painting work has been published in publications such as Suboart Magazine. Campoy began creating exhibition spaces in Williamsburg in 2019 and, following a pandemic setback, continued developing new spaces in the East Village in 2025. He designs environments that showcase his own artwork.
Campoy, a painter at heart, has also created designs for renowned brands such as Marchesa, Vera Wang, Reem Acra, Rhone, and Sergio Tacchini. His contributions to these brands have included fabric artwork, original prints, fashion designs, illustrations, and garment development in collaboration with factories. His work has been featured in stores including Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia, published on Vogue Runway, and worn by celebrities such as Katy Perry, the K-pop group TWICE, Sydney Sweeney, and Millie Bobby Brown. He was commissioned by Saks Fifth Avenue Atlanta to create handbag week sketches, and his illustrations were later used in New York for buyer invitations at Bloomingdale’s, Shopbop, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue..
